The Arts and Culture Division of the
Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts develops
and administers government policies and programs
that support a vital and sustainable arts and
cultural sector.
In fulfilling this mandate, the Division's Arts
and Culture Branch oversees policy innovation and business
development, and works with a number of industry
stakeholders, on initiatives such as:
-
Community Cultural Tourism
- B.C.'s creative industries
- Federal-Provincial-Territorial Forum on Culture and Heritage
- The B.C. Art Collection
Within the Division, two government agencies also
help to carry out this mandate:
The
British Columbia Arts Council, which
administers operating and project support for
artists and organizations, and aims to engage
all British Columbians in a healthy arts and
cultural community that is recognized for
excellence.
The
British Columbia Film Commission, which
oversees production activity in the province,
markets the province as a motion picture
production location, and offers a full range of
services and information resources for producers
and production companies.
