Heritage Planning Programs
The branch offers a variety of community heritage
planning programs to encourage and assist local
governments in conserving British Columbia’s
heritage. Please note that program
availability is subject to change. Contact
your Regional Heritage Planner to find out which
resources are currently available.
These programs are designed to assist communities
in planning and developing self-sustaining heritage
conservation programs:
- Community Heritage Context Planning
Supports planning to identify and explain a
community’s heritage context – the major factors and
processes that influenced evolution.
- Strategic
Planning Program
Supports the preparation of a five to ten year
strategy within which to plan, develop, implement
and evaluate a community heritage program.
- Implementation Planning Program
Supports the preparation of detailed plans outlining
how a heritage strategic plan will be implemented.
- Community
Heritage Registers Program
Supports the development of community heritage
registers

consistent with the documentation standards of the
BC Register of Historic Places.
- Conservation
and Feasibility Planning Program
Supports the preparation of conservation or
feasibility plans for historic places officially
recognized by a local government.
