Resort Development

Legislation

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts has been given delegated powers under the Land Act and Ministry of Lands, Parks and Housing Act to allow officers and employees of the ministry to perform duties and make statutory decisions relating to the administration and allocation of Crown land for all seasons resorts and certain other purposes.

Here is an unofficial consolidation of the Land Act legislation.

This delegation of authority has been granted by Ministerial Order 114/2006 [65kb].

The Resort Timber Administration Act enables the transfer, by regulation, of specific powers and responsibilities under the Forest Act and the Forest and Range Practices Act from the Minister of Forests and Range to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

This act enables officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts to authorize timber harvesting and associated actions for Crown timber management for the purposes of all seasons resort development within Controlled Recreation Areas.

Please note that online versions of acts are not necessarily always the most up-to date versions. They are provided here for reference only.
